Dear Patients, friends, and colleagues:
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Gonzales in October of 2024. He was a partner with Orthopedic Associates/OCC for 23 years and helped thousands of patients return to an active and fulfilling life. He was a beloved and dedicated doctor to his patients, he was a great friend and confidant of many physicians and colleagues, and above all else, a very loving and caring family man.

Joel Gonzales, M.D., a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, joined Orthopedic Associates in 2001. His special interests include the treatment of sports related injuries of the shoulder and knee. Dr. Gonzales received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia. He attended medical school at George Washington University.
His internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery were completed at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Gonzales completed his fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Orthopedic Research of Virginia.
Dr. Gonzales is an active member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Gonzales was also the head team physician for the Colorado Crush, and a consulting physician for the Denver Nuggets.
Dr. Gonzales has a certification of added qualification in sports medicine. Dr. Gonzales enjoys spending time with his 4 children, skiing and fishing.
