5280 Magazine has released its 2025 list of the Denver metro area’s top doctors, and six of the doctors on the list can be found at Orthopedic Associates. With subspecialties that range from hip replacement to arthritis in the fingers, our top doctors cover a range of orthopedic and sports medicine needs so that, no matter your injury, Orthopedic Associates has an expert available to help.
Let’s take a moment to highlight our six top doctors and see just what it is—from education to achievements—that named them as the best of the best.
Dr. Imran K. Choudhry
Dr. Choudhry offers comprehensive care for the upper extremities, from the shoulder to the fingertips. His excellence has been long-established, with him winning the Bausch & Lomb Science Award in high school for his “Excellent Promise in the Field of Science.” Since then, Dr. Choudhry has made good on his potential by continuing to add to his repertoire.
While at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical School, Dr. Choudhry received the William Winter MD Award for his “Outstanding Performance in Orthopaedic Surgery,” again establishing himself as one of the best. When completing his residency at the University of Cincinnati and Affiliated Hospitals, he received the Peter J. Stern MD award due to his “outstanding qualities in professionalism, patient care, and teaching.”
Dr. Choudhry has completed subspecialty training through an upper extremity/hand fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and has researched nerve injuries, allowing him to have an expert understanding of the musculature and nerves in the shoulder, arms, elbows, wrists, and hands. With this knowledge, Dr. Choudhry strives to provide the best possible care for his patients and is always extending his knowledge to stay at the top of his game.
Dr. Andrew W. Parker
Dr. Parker attended Northwestern University Medical School and completed his internship and residency at this same institution. He then went on to complete a fellowship at Louisiana State University in Knee and Shoulder.
Dr. Parker joined Orthopedic Associates in 1992, offering his expertise to our patients for over three decades, and he lends his knowledge to sports teams, as well. From 1995 through 2017, he served as the team physical and medical director of the Colorado Avalanche, and he has also served as a consulting physician for the Denver Nuggets. When it comes to ensuring local athletes remain healthy and getting them back onto the field, Dr. Parker shows his dedication.
His professional accolades are extensive, as well. Specifically, Dr. Parker is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the National Hockey League Physician’s Society.
Orthopedic Associates is lucky to have Dr. Parker’s expertise in sports medicine as well as general orthopedics.
Dr. Brian J. Larkin
Dr. Larkin joined Orthopedic Associates in 2012 and specializes in primary and revision hip and knee replacement and treatment of young adults, which can include hip arthroscopy and open hip preservation surgery.
Dr. Larkin attended Yale University, playing a sport himself, soccer, while also graduating with honors in biomedical engineering. He then attended Wayne State University School of Medicine for his medical degree before completing an orthopedic surgery internship and residency at Henry Ford Hospital. His fellowship training was in Joint Preservation, Resurfacing, and Replacement at Washington University.
Top doctors understand the importance of expanding their knowledge base and the key role in research for this very task. Dr. Larkin has been actively involved in research, authoring peer-reviewed journal publications, presenting at regional and national meetings, and writing a book chapter to share his knowledge with others, advancing the field of orthopedics as a whole.
Dr. Larkin also understands the importance of doctors sharing their knowledge with each other, which is why he is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
Dr. Larkin, in addition to working at Orthopedic Associates, is also a consulting physician for the Colorado Avalanche, offering his expertise to the local sports teams. In addition to his time on the varsity soccer team while at Yale, Dr. Larkin still enjoys being physically active and enjoys soccer, skiing, running, tennis, and golf. He uses his personal experience in these sports to guide healthy sports practices for his patients.
Dr. Eric J. Lindberg
Dr. Lindberg joined Orthopedic Associates in 1998, bringing his specialization in the evaluation and treatment of foot and ankle disorders. In addition to sports injuries of the foot and ankle, he also helps to correct complex deformities unrelated to sports, such as those that may occur as a result of arthritis.
As for his educational background, Dr. Lindberg went to the University of California, Davis, for his undergraduate degree and then completed medical school at the UCLA School of Medicine. His residency in orthopedic surgery was completed through the Harbour/UCLA Medical Center, and then he completed a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Balance Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Long Beach. His aspirations didn’t end there, though—he also completed a fellowship in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with the Department of Pathology at UCLA’s School of Medicine. This additional knowledge has proven useful in his work with the feet, especially given their many bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons.
Dr. Lindberg is a member of many societies, including:
- The American Foot and Ankle Society
- American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons
- Colorado Medical Society
- Denver Medical Society
Dr. Lindberg has also lent his clinical expertise to the local sports teams as a consulting physician for the Colorado Avalanche, the Denver Nuggets, and the Colorado Crush from 1998 to 2017.
Dr. Frank Wydra
Dr. Wydra started at Orthopedic Associates in 2019 and has interests that include shoulder, knee, and hip arthroscopy as well as shoulder arthroplasty.
Dr. Wydra’s higher education began at the University of Illinois with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He then went on to Loyola University of Chicago for a Master of Arts in Medical Science before going on to Ruch University Medical College, where he was recognized by the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Wydra completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Colorado.
Dr. Wydra understands the importance of caring for high school athletes and has prior experience at Denver Public Schools as the provider of medical care to their athletes. He was also the team physician at various football, gymnastics, and wrestling events.
Following this, Dr. Wydra completed a fellowship at Kerlan-Jobe Institute in order to specialize in orthopedic sports medicine. During this fellowship, he served as the team physician to the LA Galaxy MLS soccer team, the US Women’s Soccer team, various universities, and several local high school football teams. The time spent completing the fellowship allowed Dr. Wydra to care for patients and athletes from all athletic levels, which provided skills and experience that he continues to draw upon today.
In addition to the care he provides to his own patients, Dr. Wydra extends his reach by serving as a clinical instructor at the University of Colorado, where he trains medical students and residents in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. In this way, Dr. Wydra plays a hand in ensuring that his students know how to provide the same exceptional care that he does.
Dr. Ryan J. Caufield
Dr. Caufield joined Orthopedic Associates in 2016 and offers his clinical expertise in primary and revision hip and knee replacement.
Dr. Caufield’s road to Orthopedic Associates begins with his time at the University of Notre Dame, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in History and Pre-Professional Studies. He then went to Georgetown University for his Master’s degree in Physiology and Biophysics, then continued his education at Georgetown University’s School of Medicine, where he graduated cum laude.
Dr. Caufield completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Georgetown University and then fulfilled his active duty obligation to the United States Navy, where he practiced general orthopedics at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy, for two years. He then served for one more year at the Naval Health Clinic New England in Rhode Island. Dr. Caufield’s time in active duty allowed him to care for a different kind of athlete—those who enlisted to protect American citizens.
Following these three years of military service, Dr. Caufield completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Rush University Medical Center and then finished his Naval commitment as the only total joint arthroplasty surgeon at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. While there, he provided care for active duty service members, retirees, and their families.
